Getting Started

What age can my child start dance classes at KDF?

As young as 2½. Our Toes & Taps program is a playful, nurturing first dance experience for ages 2½–4, and we offer classes for every age and level all the way through adult.

Does my child need experience to join?

No experience is needed. Kinetic Dance Force groups dancers by our own progression of levels — Toes & Taps, Level 1R, Level 2R, Teens and Adult — so every student starts in the right place and is supported alongside peers at the same stage.

How does the free trial class work?

Your first class is free. Reach out or register online and we'll place your dancer in a class that fits their age and level so you can experience KDF before enrolling — no commitment required.

How do I register, and how does the parent portal work?

You can enroll online any time through our Jackrabbit registration portal, where you'll also manage your account, schedule and payments. Prefer a hand? Call 860-508-5245 and we'll walk you through it.

What should my child wear, and what shoes are needed?

Fitted dancewear that allows a full range of motion, with hair secured back. Shoes vary by style — ballet slippers, tap shoes, jazz shoes or clean indoor sneakers for hip hop. See our Dress Code page for the full list by class type.

Programs & Scheduling

What dance styles do you teach?

We teach ballet, tap, jazz, hip hop, lyrical, contemporary, pointe and acro. Dancers can train in a single style or explore several across the season as they grow.

What's the difference between recreational and competitive dance?

Recreational classes focus on technique, confidence and the joy of dance at a comfortable pace, with a year-end recital. Our competitive path — the award-winning Competition Troupe — is for dedicated dancers who train more intensively and compete at regional and national events.

What is the Toes & Taps beginner program?

Toes & Taps is our beginner program for ages 2½–4 — a playful first dance experience exploring movement, rhythm and all dance genres in a nurturing setting that builds coordination, confidence and a lifelong love of dance.

When does the dance season run, and when is the recital?

Our main season runs from early September through late spring, ending with an annual recital that celebrates everything dancers have worked toward. We also offer summer programming. Watch the Calendar page for confirmed dates.

Do you offer summer camps and adult classes?

Yes to both. We run summer camps and dance programming over the break, and our Adult classes (18+) welcome every level for fitness, expression and fun. See Programs & Teams and Classes for details.

Logistics & Policies

How much does tuition cost?

Tuition is billed monthly across the season and depends on how many classes your dancer takes. We keep exact rates off the page so we can recommend the right plan — call 860-508-5245 or see our Tuition & Fees page.

Where is the studio located, and which towns do you serve?

Kinetic Dance Force is in Middletown, CT, and welcomes families from across Central Connecticut — including Cromwell, Portland, Middlefield, Durham, Haddam, Higganum, Rocky Hill, Glastonbury, New Britain and Hartford.

Can parents watch class?

Yes — we love sharing our dancers' progress with families. Ask the front desk about viewing options and our scheduled watch weeks, when parents are invited in to see what their dancers have been working on.

What is your make-up and cancellation policy?

We do our best to accommodate make-up classes when students miss a session — contact the studio to arrange one. Full enrollment, withdrawal and payment policies are shared at registration and in your parent portal.

What performance opportunities do dancers have?

Recreational dancers shine at our annual recital, while Competition Troupe members perform and compete at regional and national events — with first-place overall finishes to show for it. Performing builds confidence, stage presence and a real sense of accomplishment.

Are classes open to boys and girls?

Absolutely. Kinetic Dance Force is a co-ed, supportive community where every dancer belongs — boys and girls are welcome in every program.
